camelCase Converter

Type a label the way a human wrote it — “hello world example” — and get the identifier your code wants: helloWorldExample. The same box covers the whole family of word-joining formats developers bounce between.

Tip: select part of your text first and only the selection is converted. Conversions happen in place and are fully undoable here — nothing leaves your browser.

How words are split

The converter splits your text on anything that is not a letter or digit — spaces, underscores, hyphens, dots — and also on existing case boundaries, so helloWorld and hello_world both split into “hello” + “world” and convert between formats without doubling. Numbers stay attached to the word they follow. Acronyms written in all caps inside a camel humps sequence (“parseHTTPResponse”) are split as one word, HTTP — the standard convention most codebases follow, rather than mangling it into H-T-T-P.

FAQ

camelCase or PascalCase for a React component?
PascalCase — components are classes in disguise. camelCase is for the variables and props inside them.
Can I convert a whole list of labels?
Yes, with a caveat: the identifier formats join everything into one identifier, so convert line by line for lists. UPPERCASE, lowercase and the other full-text formats handle multi-line text in one go.
Why did my kebab-case lose its capitals?
That is what kebab-case is: lowercase words joined by hyphens, so URLs and file names behave identically on every operating system.
