Text clean-up

Remove Duplicate Lines

Paste a list, click the button, and every repeated line after its first appearance disappears — the surviving lines keep their original order. It reports exactly how many lines it removed.

How matching works

By default two lines are duplicates only if they are identical character for character — “Apple” and “apple” are different lines, and so are “item” and “item ” with a trailing space. The two ignore-options loosen that: Ignore case compares lines lowercased, and Ignore surrounding spaces compares them trimmed. Whichever line came first is the one kept, in its original form. Blank lines are duplicates of each other by default (the second and later blank lines are removed); tick the third option to remove blank lines entirely.

FAQ

Does it sort my list?
No — order is preserved exactly. Sorting would be a different promise than deduping.
What counts as a line?
Text between line breaks. A trailing line break at the very end creates one final empty line, which the blank-line rules above apply to.
Is my list uploaded?
No. The comparison runs in this page, in your browser.
