Lowercase Converter
Every letter becomes small; punctuation, numbers and layout stay put. It is the fastest reset button for text that arrived in the wrong case.
Tip: select part of your text first and only the selection is converted. Conversions happen in place and are fully undoable here — nothing leaves your browser.
The caps-lock rescue, in two steps
Text typed with caps lock on — or pasted from a system that stores names in capitals — is rarely what you want as-is. The reliable fix: run it through lowercase first to get a clean slate, then Sentence case to put back only the capitals that grammar wants. Converting straight from all caps to Title Case leaves every word capitalized, which is almost never the intent.
Other jobs lowercase is for
- Normalizing data — email addresses, SKUs and tags compare cleanly when case is uniform.
- Starting a slug — lowercase is step one before kebab-case for URLs.
- Diff-friendly text — case-only differences disappear before you compare two versions.
| Input | Output |
|---|---|
| Hello, WORLD! 123 | hello, world! 123 |
| Émile ZOLA | émile zola |
Case mapping is full Unicode, so accented capitals lower correctly (É → é). Note the one famous exception converters cannot settle for you: the Turkish dotted capital İ lowers to i̇ with a combining dot in Unicode default mapping — if your text is Turkish, check those characters after converting.
FAQ
- Will lowercase break acronyms in my text?
- Yes — NASA becomes nasa. That is what lowercase means. If acronyms matter, convert a copy and keep the original aside with Undo.
- Can I lowercase only part of the text?
- Select the part first, then click lowercase — only the selection changes.
- Does it change anything besides letters?
- No. Digits, punctuation, spacing and line breaks are untouched.
