Sentence case makes text read like normal prose: a capital at the start of each sentence, lowercase everywhere else, and the pronoun “I” always capitalized. It is the case most body text on the web is written in.

How this sentence case works

The first letter of the text — and the first letter after each full stop, question mark or exclamation mark (and after a line break) — is capitalized. Every other letter is lowercased, which is what makes the tool useful on drafts that arrive in ALL CAPS or all lowercase. Because the rest is lowercased, the converter cannot know that “friday” or “paris” are proper nouns: proper names that were capitalized only by being names will need their capitals back by hand. That limit is stated plainly rather than hidden — no case converter can detect proper nouns without a dictionary and grammar model.

wait… what happened? i missed it.Wait… what happened? I missed it.

One deliberate choice: the pronoun i is capitalized wherever it stands alone, because a lowercase standalone “i” is never correct in English prose.

Sentence case vs Title Case

Use sentence case for sentences — body copy, captions, descriptions, UI microcopy, most email subject lines. Use Title Case for titles — articles, videos, documents, pages. Mixing them looks like a mistake precisely because readers can feel which one a line is supposed to be.

FAQ

Does it capitalize after abbreviations like “e.g.”?
It treats the stop in “e.g.” as a sentence end and may capitalize the next word. For abbreviation-heavy text, give the result a quick read — that ambiguity is genuinely hard even for people.
What about text with no punctuation?
Only the first letter is capitalized and the pronoun I — the rest is lowercased, which is usually exactly the cleanup an unpunctuated draft needs.
Will it fix my caps-lock paragraph?
Yes, in one click. Proper nouns are the only casualties; see the note above.
