Text clean-up
Remove Extra Spaces
Text pasted from PDFs, spreadsheets and emails arrives with doubled spaces, stray tabs and trailing whitespace on every line. This tool collapses all of it to single, clean spacing — without merging your paragraphs unless you ask it to.
Exactly what it removes
- Runs of two or more spaces become one space.
- Tabs become one space (or vanish at a line's edge).
- Leading and trailing spaces on each line are trimmed.
- Three or more consecutive line breaks become one blank line — paragraphs stay paragraphs.
- With “Keep line breaks” off, every break becomes a space instead: one continuous paragraph, still single-spaced.
What it deliberately does not do: touch spacing inside code indentation beyond collapsing tabs (if your text is source code, this is the wrong tool — indentation is meaning there), or change any letters, punctuation or case. For repeated whole lines, use Remove Duplicate Lines.
FAQ
- Why do pasted documents have double spaces?
- Usually justified text and PDF extraction: the exporter pads words to fill lines, and the padding arrives as literal spaces when you paste.
- Will it join my paragraphs together?
- Only if you untick “Keep line breaks”. Left ticked, single and double line breaks survive; only piles of three or more are reduced.
- Is anything uploaded?
- No — the cleanup runs in this page.
